Tumeric for Skin

My newest natural skin care obsession is that yellow spice that most of us Americans don't know what to do with. Turmeric beauty masks have been used across Asia for centuries. Turmeric mask works for acne and eczema. It reduces inflammation and redness, and promotes skin healing. Due to turmeric’s antioxidant properties, it has been used for skin rejuvenation. It helps softening lines and wrinkles, giving the face a more youthful appearance.
The turmeric basic face mask is easy to make and acts as a moisturizer, exfoliator and reduces redness. It brightens the skin and makes it look fresh and clean.
Benefits of using a turmeric mask:
  • Treatment of acne and scaring. People with oily skin and acne scars can expect to see benefit from using turmeric on a regular basis.
  • Turmeric is also a great anti-oxidant that helps fend off free-radicals, which age your skin prematurely.
  • Turmeric will help normalize uneven skin tone.
To make a wonderful exfoliating mask to gain these benefits mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder, raw honey, and milk.  It should form a thick paste that can stay on your face. Due to its yellow color it may color the skin yellow, but will not remain after washing off. Be careful not to get it on clothes you care about however. Use the mask as a facial scrub then leave it on your face for up to 20 minutes before rinsing off.

Turmeric is a good antioxidant, and an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent. Honey is also an anti-bacterial and it moisturizes the skin well. Milk contains lactic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid and it exfoliates the skin. Together, these three ingredients are very healthy for skin.
