Tip Tuesday: Cinnamon Honey Facial Scrub

I'm sure I am not the first person to try this, but I'm going to call it my recipe. It's for a facial scrub that is made with 100 % natural ingredients.

Mix about a quarter sized amount of raw honey (it needs to be raw) with about a 1/2 teaspoon (I just eyeball it in the bathroom) of ground cinnamon. Rub it together in your palms and spread it all over your face, scrubbing troubled spots like blemishes or dry rough spots. Be careful to avoid your eyes. You can rinse it off right away or leave it on for five minutes as a mask.

I have been doing this about 1-2 times per week and love it. The grain  of the cinnamon is a perfect not to soft, not too harsh scrub. Often when I use more harsh scrubs I end up with a face as red as a lobster afterward, with this my face stayed the same color it was intended to be.

Raw honey (pure and straight from bees themselves) is what you need to be using because it has anti-bacterial properties. It costs 2-3 times more than man-made honey (the kind in the bear), but its worth it for all its benefits. It softens skin as well as kills bacteria on the surface of your skin, helping to clear blemishes. Same is true for cinnamon, it can also be used to kill bacteria in a fresh wound.

Obviously don't use this if you are allergic to either one, but it's a great way to take care of your face naturally. What I love the most is that if some ends up in your mouth, it's not a bad taste! Yum!
