Tip Tuesday: SAD Update

You may remember my post about Seasonal Affective Disorder a few months back. I did promise an update and I plan to deliver.

One of my strategies was to use a St. John's Wort supplement. I have been taking six-150 milligram capsules daily nearly three months. St. John's Wort is an herb that may help regulate mood naturally. I have been experiencing great results. So far my winter is going very well, my mood feel stable, I have not experienced any "down" periods, and I feel I am able to cope with the seasonal affects that winter brings.

The first week I took the supplement I did experience dry mouth so I cut back to four capsules per day and it subsided. After which I went back up to six and my body seemed to adjust.

So far I do believe the supplement is helping me. Of course I am thinking about other factors that can be different for me this year as opposed to last year. Last year at this time I had just gone through a break-up so I was experiencing some up and down moments. Luckily I got thought the break-up just fine and I came out the other end. It just so happened to take place in winter, when moods aren't so stable in general.

I purchase my St. John's Wort supplement online from Puritan's Pride.  They have the best prices that I have found on supplements.
