On learning Japanese

One of the things I love most about my job is being able to teach my students something new and interesting. I most enjoy teaching them just a little bit about different cultures. Because the more we know about each other the more we build peaceful relationships around the world.

Tonight I gave the students a presentation about Japan. Teaching just the basics but possibly and hopefully sparking an interest. Honestly one of my favorite things about education is simply learning interesting bits of information that you can later bring up in a conversation.

The most interesting information the students took from the presentation was how to count to 20 in Japanese. I’m not sure many Moroccans can say they can do that. So my students are among an elite few.

I found these Japanese numbers rap on Youtube.
It may seem corny but boy is it catchy. Take a few minutes to listen to it. Maybe twice and I guarantee you’ll be speaking Japanese.  Think I’ll go to bed tonight with these numbers in my head. Maybe I’ll count my sheep in Japanese.
